Quest Y-2: The 30-day 2-minute challenge

Status: drafted · Time: 60 min · Audience: daily-builder Outcome: Build a lightweight daily AI practice log that proves habit, reflection, and learning without becoming busywork.

Win condition: a thirty-row log shows real two-minute AI-assisted work across the month, plus a short reflection on what changed in your week.

This quest is about habit, not heroics. Two minutes a day beats one dramatic sprint that never repeats.

Quest Y-1 should be complete or in flight. You need a place to record the log: a tracker row, note, doc, or approved cohort surface.

The log should be light enough that logging never becomes the work.

For thirty workdays, do one tiny AI-assisted action and record it.

Good two-minute tasks:

  • ask Claude to explain a diff before review;
  • turn rough notes into a clean update;
  • summarize a thread into decisions and open questions;
  • ask for three possible causes of a small bug;
  • improve a PR title;
  • draft a test plan;
  • ask “what context is missing before I act?”

Bad two-minute tasks:

  • open Claude Code and quit;
  • paste sensitive material;
  • ask a vague question with no work consequence;
  • retroactively fill a month of logs;
  • count passive reading as AI-assisted work.

| Date | Two-minute task | Surface used | What surprised me | Follow-up |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YYYY-MM-DD | | | | |

Keep entries short.

Example:

| 2026-04-27 | Asked Claude to separate evidence from inference on a bug triage | Claude Code | One likely file was pure inference | Re-ran search with narrower scope |

Once a week, write three bullets:

## Week N
- One AI habit that helped:
- One thing I overused:
- One thing I will change next week:

The weekly note turns a streak into learning.

What changed in my week:
Reviewer or cohort lead:
Follow-up needed:

The “what changed” paragraph should be honest. It can say the habit helped less than expected if that is true.

This counts:

  • thirty real entries;
  • each entry names a task and surface;
  • at least four weekly check-ins for a full month;
  • a final reflection;
  • no sensitive data in the log.

This does not count:

  • backfilled logs;
  • screenshots with private details;
  • pure reading without AI-assisted action;
  • a leaderboard entry with no evidence;
  • a habit tracker that says only “done.”

“I missed a day.” Continue. The goal is practice, not shame. Mark the gap honestly.

“The log got too detailed.” Reduce it. One line per day is enough.

“Every entry is the same.” Add variety: explain, summarize, compare, draft, review, triage.

“I used AI for work but forgot to log it.” Log immediately after the two-minute task.

You pass Quest Y-2 when:

  • the log has thirty honest entries;
  • weekly check-ins exist;
  • final reflection exists;
  • the log contains no sensitive details;
  • the practice clearly connects to real work.

“AI is part of my daily work rhythm, not just a special-session tool.”
